Duties
 
1. Deliver services to assist customers, designed in accordance with legislation, government policy, Minister’s expectations, Centrelink’s performance requirements and Strategic Directions.
 
2. Operate as a member of a team, contributing to the achievement of that team’s business outcomes.
 
3. Provide service to a diverse range of customers.
 
4. May include providing outreach and out-servicing to customer groups, providers and other agencies.
 
5. Customer contact may involve face-to-face, over the phone or written communication.
 
6. Work in busy, challenging and continually changing environment.
 
7. Work with other Centrelink teams and/or external agencies as required to achieve appropriate outcomes.
 
8. Negotiate appropriate service offers and promote channel choice.
 
9. Refer customers to service providers, linking them with other community support.
 
10. Encourage customer usage of Centrelink self service facilities.
 
11. Assess payment qualification and eligibility criteria to establish and/or maintain customer accounts.
 
12. Engage with and maintain operational partnerships with local community service providers.
 
13. Protect the integrity of records and ensure correct payments have been made.
 
14. Contribute new ideas, including the identification of opportunities to improve the efficiency of processing work, and implementation of change in the workplace.
 
15. Collaborate with others to ensure Centrelink priorities are achieved, including those of the immediate team, site, Area and relevant Business Line.
 
16. Use appropriate and nationally endorsed system tools to assist in decision making, research legislation and policy and to record all work accurately.
 
17. Customer Service Advisors must be prepared to work between sites within a geographical region as determined by operational requirements.

Notes
 
Current or recent experience in a Government service delivery agency is highly desirable
